I picked up first DSLR in April 2014, a Nikon D750 with a 55-300 kit zoom lens.  As luck would have it, one of my first wildlife shots was a Bald Eagle that happened to pass by as I was shooting a full moon.  At first I wasn’t even sure what was looking at, this was the first Bald Eagle I had ever heard of on Long Island!   Certainly not a great shot but I like to think this was motivaton to get into wildlife photography.

Fast forward to today,  the same Bald Eagle has a mate and has provided me with tons of photo opportunities as they have made the Eastern Great South Bay home and have had several successful nesting seasons.

Bald Eagles are huge, majestic birds that are always a thrill to see, even at long distances.

I was lucky to run into the Eagles again today, before and after work.  No great shots today but to be honest, just seeing them is good enough for me.
