I have been a member of LIWP Group since 2015. In that time, I have met lots of great people and also discovered many beautiful places on Long Island for observing and photographing wildlife. Here are a couple of my favorite spots for each season:
Winter
- Jones Beach West End (Horned lark, Snow bunting, Harlequin duck, Purple Sandpiper, Northern Gannet, …)
- EPCAL (Northern harrier, Red-tailed hawk, Eastern bluebird, Eastern meadowlark, …)
Spring
- Elizabeth Morton Wildlife Refuge (Wild Turkey, Black-capped Chickadee, Tufted Titmouse, White-breasted Nuthatch, Warbler migration …)
- Sands Point Preserve (Warbler migration, Green Heron, Frogs, Turtles, …)
Summer
- Avalon Preserve and Avalon Lake (Ring-necked pheasants, Indigo Bunting, Common Yellowthroat, Frogs, Turtles…)
- Nickerson Beach (Piping plover, Oystercatcher, Common tern, Black skimmer, …)
Fall
- Robert Moses #5 (Monarch butterfly, Whitetail deer, Raptors migration, Warbler migration, …)
- Jones Beach West End (Warblers migration, Raptor migration, Mosquitoes, …)
