The Long Island Wildlife Photography group had some great captures this week and some interesting finds. One that caught my eye was the perched Common Nighthawk posted below from Cindy Goldman. These slender and fast birds can usually be seen soaring through the sky above the treetops at dawn or dusk, and their camouflage makes them a great find as they hide during the day. Perhaps this should be a bird of the week soon.
Other notable finds include an Eastern Wood-Pewee, a female American Redstart, Easterm Phoebe, and a Chestnut sided Warbler.
This week’s cover goes to Diane Van Dyke Greco with a stunning image of Black Skimmers in flight.
