The tides have been running very low this week, probably due to the lunar cycle with a Supermoon expected on January 2nd.

In Bellport Bay, the receding water pulled back about 30 feet from normal in some shallow areas.

The water is also extremely clear, allowing for excellent visibility to the bay bottom and old docks long since eroded away.

The dilapidated breakwater in the video and images protects Beaver Dam Creek and is slated to be replaced soon.

The photos and drone footage were taken around 11:00 a.m. on 12-27-17 in Brookhaven.
