Just as the visibility was at its worst, we noticed the last thing we expected in these conditions, a commercial fishing boat emerging out of the spray and the sea smoke!  I couldn’t make out the name at the time, but it turned out to be the FV Caitlin Mairead out of Montauk Harbor captained by Dave Airpotch.  I am sure he had great equipment because the visibility with the blowing spray, ice and sea smoke looked to be awful.  Just seeing that boat out in these conditions made me forget about my numb thumb for a while.  Trish Minogue Collins spotted it first from the south side of the point, I caught the rest of the shots from the parking lot and from sea level at on the north side.
