Instead of waiting for this week’s fishing report from Paul Peluso, I decided to change it up and get involved, bringing Paul out on my boat for some classic Fall action off of Fire Island.
After seeing birds and bait offshore from the beach on Friday, the plan was to try to find the Striped Bass under the birds and hopefully run into a Humpback Whale.
After passing through a very crowded Moriches Inlet we headed West toward Smith Point.
After running a few miles it was on, birds, bait and boiling fish everywhere.
We through some top water plugs into the frenzy and quickly had two keeper sized Striped Bass in the cooler and safely threw back a few more.
