The Long Island Wildlife Photography group on Facebook has grown to almost 7000 members with some of the most talented wildlife photographers you will find anywhere.

This group has allowed many people (including me) to get a new appreciation of nature.  It is still hard to believe how much wildlife we have in the shadow of the biggest city in the world.

We have been asking the members to submit their top 5 wildlife images taken on Long Island this year and the results have been nothing short of phenomenal.

It turned out to be a tough job to whittle thousands of images down to just 5.

I will be going through all of these and posting a best of Long Island Wildlife 2016 feature set for New Years Day.

In the meantime, here are some of my favorites taken on the Island this year.

All of these were taken with a Nikon D750 and Sigma 150-600mm.
