A fleet of tug boats has been working just off shore in front of the Smith Point Outer Beach, laying the pipe to span the 5 miles between Moriches Inlet and the Smith Point Pavilion area where the sand will be pumped.

I checked out the operation Sunday morning where 5 tug boats and several support vessels from Week’s Marine were in action.

It will be interesting to monitor how the operation deals with any impacts from Hurricane Florence,  that may start generating some big surf at some point this weekend or next week.
