The next few shots justified me lugging my Sigma 150-600mm zoom on the train.  Most people leave their big lens at home for night photography but if you can keep it steady, you can get some really unique shots with it.   The distance between downtown and midtown is too far to do it justice with a normal lens but the zoom gets in nice and tight.

The shots below were taken from the southwest rooftop with an incredible view straight down onto the One World Trade Center complex including the Oculus, Reflecting Pools, Brookfield Place, and the Hudson River.
