Late Saturday Night, rather than sleep, I headed by boat to Bellport Beach around Midnight. My plan was to try to get some Milky Way shots over the Bellport Pavilion and after a few hours of sleep, catch the sunrise. Since the trip was spontaneous, I didn’t realize the moon was set to rise at 12:22 a.m. just as I docked the boat. Moon light typically reduces the visibility of the Milky Way but I was able to get a few decent shots before it rose too high in the sky.
The moon coming up over the Ocean also provided some nice photo opportunities.
