Update as of 4:00 p.m.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the entire tri-state area with a blizzard warning for all of Suffolk County.

According to the latest update around 4:00 p.m. we can expect snowfall rates of 2 to 3 inches per hour and winds up to 45 mph creating blizzard conditions.

Snowfall should average around a foot with higher amounts!

Travel will be treacherous.

Strom Force winds winds will be out of the north which should spare the beaches from major erosion but seas will be still be up to 9 feet at the south shore beaches.  Offshore will be a different story with seas up to 18 feet.

In anticipation of the storm, Fire Island Ferries has suspended all service tomorrow but plans to resume a full schedule on Friday.
