Hurricane Jose was never a real threat to Long Island but was a great surf generator due to it’s slow speed and erratic path.  Jose managed to remain a Hurricane for nearly 3 weeks!

After achieving Category 5 status in the Caribbean, Jose slowed to a crawl and did a loop off the southeast coast of the U.S. before slowly moving past Long Island and stalling again.  The result was rough seas and high tides for about a week in mid September.

Luckily I stayed over at a Davis Park beach house on Fire Island between the 15th and 18th and had a perfect vantage point to capture some of the action.

The video and images were taken on Saturday, September 16th.  I will follow up with Part II.
