Great Lakes Dredge and Dock Company started pumping sand on Saturday.  I checked out the site on Friday morning as final preparations were being made.  This an impressive operation in support of the Illinois, a 220 foot long Cutter Suction Dredge that is over 300 feet long fully extended.  There at least 4 tugboats along with multiple support vessels and barges anchored in the bay.  On the beach heavy equipment is ready to work with the sand.

The photos on pages 1 and 2 were taken Wednesday morning, ground and aerial photos on pages 3-7  were taken on Friday morning.  Luckily I was there on Saturday just as the first sand started pumping,  I will post that later.
