A friend asked me to check out an issue at their Davis Park beach house so I went over late last Thursday afternoon. It also gave me a chance to check out the beach after the dredging operation wrapped up last Fall. According to Suffolk County, 631,000 cubic yards of sand was placed on the beach. Post dredging, work commenced on building all-new crossovers and up and down the beach along with an ADA compliant ramp at the end of Trustee Walk. As you can see in the photos, these are heavy-duty walkways with pilings driven deep into the sand so hopefully they last. Beach grass was also planted up and down the beach between the houses and the beach.
I also got a chance to clean the cameras on top of the Davis Park Casino. These cameras have one of the best views on Fire Island, check them out here: Beach Cam, Marina Cam, Surf Cam.
I also checked out the entire bayside and the marina, I will post that tomorrow.
