I took a morning flight over the lower Carman River last week. Carmans River is the fourth largest on Long Island and runs from Middle Island near Cathedral Pines down to the Great South Bay in Brookhaven. It appears there was an algae bloom occurring with brown/rust-colored water flushing into the bay, but it was much clearer farther out.
The marina on the west side of the river is Squassux Landing.
