Last Monday, June 20, was a special evening for sky gazers. 

The Sumer Solstice coincided with the full Strawberry Moon for the first time in nearly 50 years.

Because the moon was scheduled to rise right at sunset, I knew I had to get to some open space to capture both the sunset, followed shortly after by the moon.

I grabbed my photo partner, 12-year old son Logan, and headed for Smith Point to see what would develop. That’s where I captured these images above.
