I checked out Old Inlet late afternoon on May 1st. The tides and surf were both running high due to an offshore storm and a fog bank just off the beach made things even more dramatic. The high water covered most of the inlet opening and the entire sand delta in the bay. I still find it incredible how much this breach changes on a weekly basis. For reference, at this time last year the breach looked very close to closing. Click here to see the difference. I hope to check it out again soon at a much lower tide to get a more realistic idea on what is going on.
