I spoke to soon this morning about the Great South Bay being ice free.  I noticed a huge sheet of ice drifting East down the Bay from Smith Point this morning and headed to Bellport to check it out.  I was hoping to see some Ice stacking first hand but the ice was hugging the shore west of Bellport with the main sheet headed toward John Boyle Island and Shirley Beach.
